SAVE GIRTRELL COURT
Public Meeting - Wednesday, 20 January 2016
7:30pm at St Mary's Church Centre,
Saughall Massie Road
Girtrell Court is a Council run residential home based in Saughall Massie providing respite to people with disabilities and their carer's. It supports people with some of the most complex needs on the Wirral. The Council has now proposed to close Girtrell Court as part of a cost cutting exercise.
Wirral UNISON has many concerns about this proposal:
- It may adversely affect some of the most vulnerable people in Wirral
- The quality of the care may be compromised
- No alternative arrangements have yet been fully considered and may not be fully available
- Alternative Provisions could cost more and be of lower quality
- Nearly 50 dedicated and qualified care staff face compulsory redundancy
Speakers confirmed:
Representatives from UNISON and Unite
Councillor Steve Williams (Conservative)
A representative of Councillor Pat Cleary (Green)
Speakers have been invited from all political parties represented on the Council
