UNPAID LEAVE UPDATE
We have today (8 September) met with Joe Blott and Tony Williams over the 4 days unpaid leave.
UNISON strongly stated that the way this has been managed this year across all departments was not acceptable and not in the spirit in which the agreement was reached.
It was agreed that this needs to be addressed ahead of the proposed ’Christmas shutdown’ period.
Joe intends to meet with Departmental Heads of Service over which ‘critical’ services they believe need to operate on the designated shutdown days.
The aim is for us to reconvene in early October to ascertain and challenge the reasons for those requests for exemptions and establish a way forward which is in line with the collective agreement.
We will report back to members as soon as possible on any future proposals.

Sue Kellett, Branch Chair
