Wirral UNISON is delighted to announce that Wirral Met College have committed to become a Real Living Wage (RLW) employer. This means that there will be substantial pay rises for our emmebrs this year, but also a measure of financial security for future years. We have additionally scored a review of incremental pay increases which affects all staff.
This comes after our members voted 96% in favour of strike action. On this occaison, we are pleased that action was not required, but our members unity and strength was clear.
If we fight, we can win.
WIRRAL MET COLLEGE VOTES FOR STRIKE ACTION

Wirral UNISON members at Wirral Met College have voted 96% to take strike action over pay and conditions at the college.
David Jones, Branch Secretary from Wirral UNISON, told the Globe: “It comes as no surprise that our members have voted 96% in favour of strike action; poverty pay is entrenched at Wirral Metropolitan College.
“Yet this is a College that boasts of ‘Outstanding Financial Health’, and is increasing the salary of the Principal this year by 11.5% to a stunning £145,000.
“We will be consulting with members on the dates of industrial action, but we urge the College listen to our members, their staff. With the cost of living soaring, they deserve better.”
